I recently purchased and downloaded a 3D model from Sci-Fi Scale Models. What you see above is printed on both a Form3 and EPAX X1 SLA 3D printer.
Overall, the detail is very well represented. There are options to print the model as a blank canvas and print/attach all the greeblies similar to ILM or print each part as complete assemblies. I opted to print each part complete.

This is version 2 of the 3D model. A version 3 is in the works with changes in some detail parts and parts break down. When it arrives, I’ll will be purchasing the new version of the Model Y kit.

You can find the Model Y kit and others at: http://www.scifi-studio-scale.com

Hi,
your y-wing model looks great! The print result looks excellent and I am asking myself if I can print this also with my much cheaper artillery sidewinder printer and get a good result too. What do you think? Many thanks and best regards,
Mark

Unless your printer is a liquid resin SLA type printer, you won’t get this kind of result. I’ve never heard of that printer, but if it’s a filament type printer, the results won’t look like this.
I have two SLA printers, a Form3 and an EPAX X1. The Red 4 was printed on a Form 3. I’m currently building Gold Leader and it was printed on the EPAX X1 with very good results.

Many thanks for your quick reply! It‘s a filament printer (FDM). I have read that SLA printers are much better but you have all the work/ mess with poisonous resin. Anyway your model looks phantastic!
